José M. Muñoz

José M. Muñoz is an associate at the Institute of Neurotechnology and Law, United Kingdom, and the International Center for Neuroscience and Ethics (CINET), Spain. Formerly, he worked as a research fellow at Harvard University, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Navarra. He was also an assistant professor at the European University of Valencia, an invited professor at the Externado University of Colombia, and a visiting professor at the National Institute of Criminal Sciences of
Mexico (INACIPE). He holds a B.S./M.S. in Biology and a Ph.D. in Logic and the History and Philosophy of Science. His areas of specialization are neuroethics and AI ethics. Head of Ibero-America for Cerebralink Neurotech Consultancy

 

He is the author of more than 70 publications, including works in high-impact international journals (such as Nature, Science, Nature Biotechnology, Brain Stimulation, Neuroethics, and AI & Society), prestigious publishers (such as Academic Press, Ariel, Espasa, and Tirant lo Blanch), and popular media (such as the Spanish edition of Scientific American). He is also the author of the “Neuroethics” entry in the Encyclopædia Britannica. He has collaborated with several mainstream media in Spain, including the newspaper El País, the TV channel Cuatro, and the radio station Radio 5.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Mexican Association of Neuroethics (AMNE) and a regular member of the International Neuroethics Society (INS).

 

He has served as a consultant and speaker for numerous institutions, including the United Nations, the Organization of American States (OAS), the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), the Spanish Royal Academy, the Parliament and Human Rights Commission of Australia, the Senate of Mexico, the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina, and the Senate and Supreme Court of Chile.
